Welcome to Filbert’s Newsletter. Your comments, suggestions or contributions are welcome.

Life Drawing and Painting Course: 8/9 March 2008

A few people on this course had not worked from life before, others had some experience, yet they all produced some wonderful results. We started on the first day with drawing, a number of quick sketches to get into the swing of it. This was followed by drawings that concentrated on line and tone. At the end of the day we worked in charcoal and chalk on longer poses.
On the Sunday we looked at mixing flesh tones and produced two small paintings in the morning. In the afternoon we worked on a longer pose and some people experimented with different colour schemes which worked extremely well. I think you will agree from the pictures here that everyone on the course produced some really great paintings. Congratulations to the following artists: Geoff Gooding, Alex Chamberlain, Tony Sharpe, Heather Tuffs, Marjorie Gott, Lorna MacDonald

Just for Fun

If you have a few spare minutes click on the links below : On the first website your cursor effectively becomes Jackson Pollock and you can create a Jackson Pollock ‘masterpiece’ just by clicking and moving your cursor around the screen. On the second site you can create a Picasso painting from thousands of small elements of his work. It’s great fun.

REQUEST

Do you have any old objects of no value to you that would make great objects to draw? Would you be willing to donate them to me? I need to refresh my collection of drawing objects (I have enough kettles, mugs flowers etc). If you have anything of interest, either bring it with you on a course, or if not please give me a ring and I'll arrange to collect it. Many thanks.

Regards

Paul Priestley
