Painting with Knives Course: 27 February 2008

Many of the people on this course had very little experience working with palette knives, yet achieved some really good results. After a quick demonstration from me, the first exercise was to paint a small still life. Most did well, but a few found it a little difficult to get to grips with using a knife, so for the next exercise we worked together on a painting a face. To help everyone, and this is a good idea to use when first starting with knives, we drew a few lines on the face showing the direction in which we would apply the paint with the knife. This worked well. In the afternoon everyone started work on a landscape and with only a few tips from me produced some wonderful paintings, as you can see from the few produced here. Congratulations to the following artists: Joe Bubb, Marjorie Stockley, Geoff Gooding, Pat Matthews, Pat Masek and Christine Tutt.

REQUEST

Do you have any old objects of no value to you, that would make great objects to draw? Would you be willing to donate them to me? I need to refresh my collection of drawing objects ( I have enough kettles, mugs flowers etc). If you have anything of interest, either bring it with you on a course, or if not attending a course, please give me a ring and I'll arrange to collect it. Many thanks.
